Jeff Duval, Efret’s co-founder retires
As Jeff begins his well-deserved retirement, all of us at Efret pause to celebrate a remarkable career defined by vision, determination and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
As co-founder of Efret in 2005, Jeff helped transform an ambitious idea into a company that has grown into a trusted transport partner for internationally recognised shippers across Europe. He leaves a legacy that will continue to shape our company’s journey for years to come.
Jeff’s career in European transport spans nearly five decades, reflecting a lifetime dedicated to keeping international supply chains connected. From his early days developing international freight services, Jeff consistently demonstrated the entrepreneurial spirit and practical insight that would later define Efret’s approach. His deep understanding of the industry has been instrumental in guiding the company through periods of change, growth and challenge.
When we co-founded Efret together, we shared a clear belief: that strong relationships, operational excellence and a willingness to innovate are the foundations of long-term success. Underpinned by this ethos, Efret built a reputation for reliability, flexibility and customer focus, supporting major brands across sectors including automotive, manufacturing, retail and e-commerce.
He has also been a passionate and occasionally outspoken advocate for the role of international transportation as a driver of economic growth and collaboration across borders. He championed the development of integrated intermodal transport solutions and encouraged open dialogue within the industry about the challenges and opportunities - from evolving customer expectations to sustainability and digital transformation.
Within Efret, Jeff fostered a culture built on trust, teamwork and continuous improvement. He understood that success depends on people. The planners who anticipate challenges, the drivers who deliver under pressure, the teams who work tirelessly behind the scenes. By empowering those individuals and encouraging a spirit of collaboration, he helped create an environment where everyone felt part of a shared mission.
Over the years, Jeff helped Efret navigate an increasingly complex landscape, from a worldwide pandemic to regulatory changes including Brexit and the resulting market fluctuations and shifting trade dynamics. His ability to balance long-term vision with operational decision-making ensured that the company remained resilient while continuing to evolve. Today, the strength of Efret’s partnerships and its reputation for excellence stand as a testament to the foundations he helped build.
As Jeff retires, we acknowledge not only his professional achievements but also the personal qualities that have defined his journey – a strong work ethic, integrity and a genuine passion for the industry. He has been a mentor to many, offering guidance and encouragement to colleagues at every stage of their careers, and his influence will continue to be felt across our company.
It’s been quite some journey to build Efret together and to share this experience over the past twenty years. His leadership and commitment have been central to our success and have left a lasting impression on me, the company and the wider industry. I am grateful for his support and wish him every happiness in his retirement.
